The Weekly Scoop

This weeks edition of The Weekly Scoop is dedicated to incorporating all of the runway trends we’re seeing from NY, London, Paris, and Milan fashion weeks, into our wardrobe now. Granted, Paris and Milan haven’t happened yet; one will begin this week and the next one, the following week, but we know that we’ll see things that we may want to bring to our personal wardrobes, now. How do we do that? How do we incorporate a trend that we can’t yet buy?

Well, as with any trend, or look from a runway, you want to keep in mind that it’s probably not “fresh”. Meaning: we’ve probably seen it before and the look we’re currently seeing on the runway is an interpretation of that original look, or some sort of inspired evolution of that look. Knowing that, makes it easier to break down, then re-essamble the creation to your existing wardrobe. Let’s take a look:

Tom Ford: London Fashion Week S/S 15, from Ford, we saw hints of athleticism (we spoke about this in yesterday’s post), texture, masculine influences, sequence, and boots. To intertwine any of these looks into your wardrobe, perhaps you consider a baseball tee and a sequence skirt with beautiful boots. Perhaps this looks like a faux fur cropped jacket, tailored slacks and a beautiful silk shell. Don’ be afraid to break down a look (i.e. finding the base or fundamentals of the outfit), then choosing the pieces that for you. Add your personal touch with accessories, and makeup, and before you know it-you’re ready to walk down a cat walk too!

Erdem: From this English powerhouse brand, we saw beautiful laces and eyelets that lend an airiness and femininity to the garment. They are using this for the entire look, allowing the figure to be seen underneath. Incorporate a look like this for just a portion of your body, maybe a lace blouse, or an eyelet skirt paired with texture on the other half of your body, like sequins or leather. Again, break the look apart and use the pieces that work for you now, before they hit the stores.
